Alumni Association Celebrates Southeast Courtwarming
On Thursday, February 2, Southeast Alumni Association members attended the Courtwarming game at the Interscholastic League Fieldhouse. Known as Homecoming to earlier classes, this year’s Courtwarming game featured the Knights in play against KC Metro Academy. The Alumni Association banner was proudly displayed at court level.
Alumni and all Southeast fans witnessed a close game that resulted in a 69-65 victory for the Knights. This was the fourth game in a row that Southeast has won, and they are in a great position as district play approaches.

Senior Night ended with our Southeast Knights crowned as 2016-17 Interscholastic League (IL) Basketball Champions. The Knights defeated Northeast by the score of 69 - 66 to capture the IL championship. Northeast played a great game and proved to be a formidable opponent. The Vikings are coached by Coach Ralph Williams, who in my opinion, is one of the premiere coaches in the IL conference. In the end, it was the Knight’s pressure defense that was the difference in the game. Southeast trailed by seven points at the start of the fourth quarter. The Knights pressure defense forced Northeast into some costly turnovers which ignited the comeback. Darias Jones led the Knights in scoring with 20 points and Trevon Adams scored 19. Martelle Moore sealed the deal with some big time free throws in the final seconds. Our varsity Knights have now won seven games in a row and appear to be peaking as district play looms upon the horizon. It feels to good say ” WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS”!! Our Knights have brought the championship back to the castle!! Job well done!
